Grandma and Grandpa's visit!!

Sunday morning BJ's parents came into town and stayed with us until today. We had such a good time! The kids were SO excited for grandma and grandpa to have a sleep over!
On Sunday we just hung out, had a delicious spaghetti dinner (thanks, mom for teaching us your secrets!) and let Sammy take advantage of some grandma and grandpa snuggle time!

Sammy started rubbing grandpa's hair, then moved to his nose followed by his ear!?!
It was cute! This is her rubbing his ear!

Sleepy Sammy on grandmas lap! (I just love this picture!)

On Monday the kids took them to the zoo and showed them all the neat animals! They especially enjoyed showing grandma and grandpa how to feed the giraffes, and how the polar bear swims back and forth and back and forth! (I forgot to bring my camera...duh!)

Then on Tuesday, after Chris got home from school, we went to the Pima Air and Space Museum. It was really neat. This was the first time we'd been there and we all really enjoyed it. Inside there was a history of aviation starting out with a replica of the Wright Bro.'s plane and the planes that followed throughout history bringing us to the planes that we have today. Here are some of them...

Further into the museum there was a plane that the kids could climb in and "fly".

There were some old simulators that you could get in and play with all the buttons, knobs and dials. In this picture you can see all the stuff on the dash but the whole ceiling and both walls were just as covered! Wow! I couldn't imagine knowing what even a 1/3 of these are for!

This plane is a PBM-5A Mariner. It had retractable wing floats that allowed it to land in water and float. It had a wingspan of 118 feet. It was 79 ft 10 inches long and could travel at 211 miles per hour, and it was first delivered in ..... 1940. I'm amazed!

Here are a few more pictures that I took at the museum...

JFK's Air Force One. Inside we were able to see JFK's desk and where his security and the press would sit.

This HUGE plane is called the "Super Guppy". It carried NASA components. This is seriously the strangest plane I've ever seen! The wings are so small for the size of the plane! I can't imagine it ever being able to get off the ground. But...apparently it did!

Chris had so much fun looking at all the "fast fighter jets!"

The wings on this plane is why I took this picture. They are real short and angle down and back quite a bit unlike the other planes. The reason...STOL. This plane could do short take offs and vertical take offs (like a helicopter). And while it is flying it could slow down it's speed to a stop and 'hover'. Amazing!

After the Museum we went to lunch at Eegees! Gotta try it when you come to Tucson!

On Wednesday we took a tour of campus. BJ had school all week so during his longer break on Wednesday we met up with him and let him show his parents around the U of A campus.

After we walked around campus and had some lunch it was time for BJ to go to rehearsal. They were rehearsing in the concert hall so we were able to sit in on it and let BJ's parents hear the music they will be playing at his concert this weekend.

Today we had to drop them off at the airport. It was a sad moment and the kids each had to take turns giving their good-bye hugs.

It was a very enjoyable few days and we were sad that it had to end. On the drive back home, after we dropped them off, Chris and Samantha kept telling me how sad they were and that they wanted grandma and grandpa to stay here. We had a quiet tearful drive home thinking about the fun times that we were able to have with them while they were here.

We love you both SO much and miss you already! We hope to see you again soon!
