RAIN!!

IT CAME!! It FINALLY came!!! All those days of stormy skies, lightning and thunder with NO rain have come to an end, for now anyway!
Our first Monsoon storm of the year hit and it hit HARD! It was AWESOME! We had to go out and play in it!

It hit in the afternoon/evening, so we played in it for a while. Then when it got darker we got in our pajamas and watched it from the garage. It was amazing watching the sheets of rain hitting the ground flooding the neighborhood roads!

We decided it would be fun to drive down to the wash at the end of the street and see how much water was running in it. It was hard to see because by then it was pretty dark, so we drove to the next street over in our neighborhood where there was a bridge that we could stand on and watch the water flow underneath us.
There we all were standing in our pajamas, barefoot, leaning over the bridge, getting SOAKED watching the water rush down the wash. It was so fun!

That night on the news they reported some of the main washes having water up 12 feet deep in them! So the next morning we drove around to see if any water was left. There was a little, but not much. The wash in our neighborhood was completely dry but it had some of the neatest swirls created by the rushing water carrying the different types of dirt.

This is a great time of the year! I wish the storms would hit more often. This year and last year has been pretty dry. Maybe we'll get more in the next month or so!!

I remember, as kids, riding our bikes in the rain. Often times, the gutter drains clogged, and flood the street. Those "puddles" were great fun to pedal through, and even more fun when we dumped the bikes and waded through the water. We were little, so they seemed really deep!!! Ask your dad. I am sure he remembers. Oh, the joys of youth!!
