My baby boy is 6! I can't believe how fast it has gone! He is such a good, loving, caring, charming, stinker of a boy! AND I LOVE HIM! Happy Birthday Christopher!
Because he has just started playing little league baseball....baseball is ALL he thinks about! So when I asked him what he wanted to do for his birthday, he said that he wanted a baseball birthday party with his friends from school and a baseball cake!
OK
So, we put together a baseball birthday party for the Saturday before his birthday and invited some of his friends from school.
We had it at a local park here and the day was beautiful! The kids played on the playground until everyone was there then we played some baseball-type games.
We had some music and had them play "musical bases", but not only did they need to be on a base when the music stopped...they had to run the bases with a soft mini baseball balanced on a spoon. They had fun and we played several rounds.
Then we played a pitching game where they had to throw their soft mini baseball at a pyramid of cups and knock them all down.
The kids all had fun and seemed to enjoy the games.
After we played games we opened presents, ate baseball cupcakes, and then played on the playground some more.
The kids all seemed to have a great time.
Instead of doing regular thank you cards for the gifts, I decided to make a baseball card starring each of the kids that came. On the back it said, "Thank you for coming to my party! You're a Super Star!" Then we had Chris sign them.
On his birthday, I took in some treats to his school class. I decided to just do Ding Dongs and add a special little touch. They kinda got a kick out of them!
Since his birthday fell on a Tuesday, we decided to have some family friends come over and celebrate with cake and ice cream and let the kids have a night to run and play for a little while. Before everyone got here, BJ called Grandma and Grandpa on Skype using his computer, and I called Nana and Poppy on Skype using my computer and let them watch as Chris opened his presents. We loved being able to share some of the celebration with them!
Then once all the guests arrived it was crazy, but SO fun! The kids were wild and loud and the adults had a great time talking! It turned out to be a great night!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS!
