This morning Samantha quietly walked into my room and woke me up by quietly saying...
"Um, mom, I need your help."
I rolled over trying to focus and asked her what she needed my help with.
"I was trying to make my lunch... I don't know... it just started to... I just only making my sandwich...it started to smoke...I was trying..."
The second I heard the word "smoke" I was awake! I jumped up to see what had happened. I came into the kitchen and saw that Samantha had made herself a cheese sandwich to pack for lunch at preschool. She had put a slice of cheese between two slices of bread, put it in a sandwich bag, tied it closed with a *metal* twist-tie and then put it in the microwave for *5 minutes* to melt the cheese.
Yep, you read it right...a METAL twist-tie for 5 minutes in the microwave!
Needless to say there was smoke and sparks, a bad smell, and a very burned sandwich!
Luckily our microwave still works and our house wasn't burned down!
I'm so glad that she is trying to be independent, but sometimes she makes me a little nervous!
She's learning! :-)

Sammy is such a big girl, trying to help out. I fear she just isn't old enough to help with the cooking. I bet she was terrified!
Remember little one, that you shouldn't cook things unless your mommy or daddy is there to help.
I love you
